Cycle of Compassion: Engaging with the GRCoC
This blog post is the second in a five-part series that explores the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care and how our collaborative and compassionate network has a tangible impact on the Richmond region, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors experiencing homelessness. Read the first post here.
The Greater Richmond Continuum of Care (GRCoC) includes local governments and nonprofit homeless service providers as well as community supporters and advocates.
This level of collaboration is central to the GRCoC’s effectiveness and impact. In FY2025, more than 40 agencies came together at GRCoC meetings to inform and guide regional efforts to reduce homelessness.
Here’s what this collaboration looks like in practice:
· Conducted 2 regional Point in Time counts
· Facilitated 16 Connection to Homeless Services trainings
· Conducted 7 trainings with local government partners
· Facilitated over 40 community decision-making meetings
When agencies officially join the GRCoC, they agree to the following:
· Protect client confidentiality
· Minimize barriers to service
· Focus on housing
· Provide accurate information
· Follow community policies
· Maintain data quality
· Comply with conflict-of-interest policies
· Coordinate services
By agreeing to these requirements, GRCoC agencies maintain the highest levels of transparency and accountability. They have a shared commitment to always putting clients first and prioritizing the needs of the people they serve.
